Description This course will cover aspects of nutrition, including global nutrition concerns, needs assessments, program planning, participatory strategies, and worldwide delivery systems.This course will also introduce program planning from the perspective of international organizations such as the World Food Program and The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations. Organizational missions, policies, structures, projects, funding sources, and career opportunities will be investigated. These and other major international organizations will be visited.
Special consideration will be given to special topics in international nutrition such as HIV/AIDS, gender, urbanization, street foods, food-based vs. supplementation issues, home gardening and conflict.
